Wear Yellow Ride, The 11th annual

Its that time of year again...The Wear Yellow Ride is back! Ride to provide rides for those that can't afford or find transportation to and from cancer treatments. In 2013, the ride funded 286 rides for patients to their treatments. That's pretty awesome! And so far, over 140 rides have already been given!

I don't work in a cancer center, but I do work in an eye center and see older generations wondering how they'll get to their appointments and surgeries. They are on limited monies for living. I've seen patients that don't have family or friends to drive them around. We even had one patient take the bus as far as it would go, then had to walk his way up to our office in the middle of a blizzard in order to make it to his cataract surgery. I felt really bad for him. And yes, myself and coworkers have given rides to patients after their surgeries.

Now imagine going through chemo and not having enough money to make it to your appointments. Bills keep stacking up, food costs money, kids need new clothes. The last thing a patient needs to think about is how they'll make it to their doctor's appt next Monday. That's where the Wear Yellow ride comes into play! They have a bike raffle, other raffle prizes, food (Pancake Man once again!), fun, and its always good to get out and let out that stress while on your bike. Come ride with us and provide someone with a ride to their appt!
