I fixed my Serato Scratch Live problem!!!

Early last year, I bought a new Dell desktop. The whole goal was to replace my old Dell because the video card and everything else was going bad. I bought a juiced computer for music and photography. Intel quad core i7, 8gb ram, 2.8ghz, 2gb video card, 1.5 tb hd, hdmi, blah blah blah. Get everything rolling, turns out that my program I use to run my turntables with my mp3s wouldn't work. Serato Scratch Live says, "Hardware not connected". Nope...looks like it's connected right there. Oh, it's Intel's fault because the i3, i5, and i7 are having issues with Serato Scratch Live. Contact your manufacture for a BIOS update. WHAT! Freaked out, finally gave up. I would run my turntables with my old computer. Boo. Defeated the purpose. I spent $1000 and got nowhere.

Fast forward a year and a half. I'm missing my house music. I want to spin my turntables. My old Dell barely starts up, then starts lagging after awhile. It's a mess. I get this crazy thought in my head that I should buy a Macbook. All the DJs use them. But what's this? The Macbooks and pro use Intel Core i3, 5, and 7. And there are known issues with audio dropout. Okay, maybe I'll buy a laptop with AMD. Serato's website says not recommended because of performance issues. Okay, seriously? People's solutions? Sell the control box SL1 because it is usb1.1 (which is what is causing the hardware to not be detected with my core i7, thanks Microsoft) and get a SL2 or SL3 control box because they run through usb 2.0. Umm...that's $600 to buy a new setup. I've already spent that. Pure BS.

About to give up. I had reloaded Win7 last year because of a virus. I'll try to reload my Serato software today. No luck even after flashing and updating my BIOS. Keep reading. Looking at ebay. Running out of options. My turntables and mixer are sitting there collecting dust. Should I wait another year and a half for Serato to get a fix from Microsoft? This is getting ridiculous. I come across a thread. Use a USB hub that is 2.0 and plug your 1.1 control box into it. It is a working solution for a guy. I have a hub laying around somewhere, bought for my ps3. Maybe I'll give it a try. CHA-CHING!!! A $10 hub solved my problem and prevented my from spending $500-1000 this weekend. I can't believe it worked!

It was a productive day. Got my turntables spinning again with my computer. Went for a bike ride around Standing Bear. And I got some photography done. Photos will be up soon.

They should have an update by now right... and I think the USB is 2.0.

    1. Hey Lady Jess,
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Just saw this comment. From what I could tell by the numerous forum comments that I went through, Mac was suppose to be all fixed up. Its anyones guess with Windows 7 and the core I3,5, and 7s on a PC based machine.

That crossed my mind to drop money on the SL2, but it just sounded silly to me. That stuff isn't cheap and for me to shell out even more money when I had a perfectly good working SL1? Good luck with your problem. Try updating drivers on your mac. Get the latest update for Serato, they pop up in your email all the time. Try different usb ports, even try a usb hub like I did. Just buy a cheap one and if it doesn't help return it. As I'm not a mac user, I can't offer too much more help. Also post your problem in the Serato forums, but be sure to check previous threads so that you don't get flamed for not doing a search first. Good luck to you!
