It was a beautiful afternoon as we set out for those halfway decent tacos out at Mineola. It was my first Tacoride for 2011 and I was pretty excited! We had a good sized group of about 10 of us, Cody, Paul, Jim, Lori, Kellan, and a few others from West Corp. Little did I know what we would have in store for us that night!
The one guy that only stops at Margaritaville was out. Yes, he makes his Moscow Mule drinks out there. See the copper cup?
Just as we were pulling into our usual stop at Margaritaville, the law enforcement on bikes were just leaving. And yes!!! One was riding a Salsa Mukluk! How cool is that? We drank some beverages and continued on towards Mineola. First thing we noticed was a line waiting to get into the front door. And this line went out into the street! What the heck! So we ended up walking in through the beer garden area, no wait! Second thing we noticed was how many people were there! We waited 20 minutes for a table, still never got one! Do we continue on towards Silver City? It is only another four miles or so. Do it!
Silver City. From what I saw, it is another small town. One main street. Quiet. Lifted pickups left and right. Gotta love small rural midwest towns! Austin's was the place to stop at. Fat Tire Pitchers were $7 which is cheap (I was told by a coworker that they use to be $5!), wings were 40 cents, and they had a full menu. Let's split 40 wings. Okay. Oh, there is a wing challenge. I have eaten 31 wings at one sitting before and it was a doozey. But this time, it was eat 12 of our hottest wings in under five minutes and get your name and picture on the wall, along with a Tshirt. Kellan accepts the challenge!
You know it's bad when Ronnie, the owner of the restaurant comes over and tells his buddy to get the video camera from somewhere. Jim even said that when he walked by the kitchen area, he overheard the cooks trying to decide who was going to make these "Trail Blazer" wings. Yikes! It's gonna be hot! So how did Kellan do? He smoked the wings no problem! And if he was a cartoon character, you would later see smoke coming out of his ears! Done in three minutes something. Amazing. But then the heat hit him. Big time. No milk at hand, no waters. Just some Fat Tire left in the pitchers, he drank what he could. But he did it and that's what matters!
Goggles on top of the glasses. Gotta protect the eyes!
Ride back seemed a lot harder than it should have been. Probably the Fat Tire kicking my butt. Thanks again to the guys who waited for me. I was struggling. Good times and can't wait to do it again!
It is always interesting to see the bikes out on the tacoride.
Is that a piece of plywood holding the bike together???
That doesn't look comfortable to ride or maneuver!
