Check the the THOR FB page for more details.

Whoops! Too many pictures!

Ever go crazy with your camera and take too many pictures? I'm talking 2700 pictures in a day? Plus video on a GoPro? Haha. Yesterday went to the season's last O Collective Drift Race event down in Mid America Motorplex and went crazy. They had the racers drifting in two different sections of the track this time. Lots of good photos, but not necessarily the best locations for us media. They were strict this time on us being behind the guardrails. Which the others griped about when they got the talking to. But when a Miata flew out of the turn and hit the guardrail hard, we all understood afterwards. Both airbags when off, side all damages, windshield shattered (actualy from the impact of the airbags hitting it). Was a crazy good time. Pictures one day. Heck, I haven't even finished pictures from  my trip to Florida!

Biking to Alice in Chains

Or I should say we biked to Alice in Chains. Did the usual park in downtown Omaha and bike to Stir Concert Cove to see Alice in Chains. Or rather hear Alice in Chains. They sounded pretty good, except no opener and they only played for 1.5 hrs. Ouch, glad we didn't actually pay the $50 something to get in.

Was a gorgeous night for a ride and a concert. Coming back across the bridge they were doing a basketball shoot with CU. For some reason, I guess I watch too many youtube videos, I thought they were throwing basketballs off the bridge and trying to shoot them into a hoop in the water. You've seen those trick shots they do on Youtube. Well wrong, it was a basketball photography shoot. Haha. Still cool to see it happening though. Suits and sneakers. Blue Sneakers that is...

They were shooting what off the bridge?

So I just snapped a quick picture as we pushed our bikes by. Flash and all. It was funny, one of the players said, "Please please, a little warning so we can smile first!"

Monday night roast

It was a scorcher. Hot, muggy, energy zapping. As Dale said it, turn your riding down a notch.

Small group that night, Paul showed off his new toy, and Elise didn't fall. ha. Good ride, cooled down slightly after the breeze picked up and a wind started coming in from the East. Yeah, was weird seeing clouds going in every which direction!

Free Custom made fatbike

!!! Yeah that's what I'm understanding from this article. You just need to find the custom fatty along the 363 miles or Oregon's coastline. And better yet there are 7 fatbikes, all made by different builders.  It actually sounds like a really cool idea! Anybody want to make a trip to Oregon?

Soloshot

I came across a video commercial for this device. Super cool. You attach your camera to it, you wear a transmitter on your arm or wherever and the device will follow your location up to 2000 feet away. Is it the ultimate selfie? We've all tried to take pictures of ourselves biking or doing whatever, set the timer, and hope you get the shot you want. Well now you just set it and do your thing! It'll follow your location!

Wow, good luck to Kate at the end of this year!

Kate Leeming is hoping to go across the Antartica by fatbike. Not just any fatbike. A selectable rear wheel drive vs AWD system! Pretty neat. Now most of us have biked in the snow and know how hard it is to clear new snow. This girl has her work cut out for her! Good luck!

Oh those delicious state fair foods!

Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Elise and I have made it a tradition to go every year. After finding out they have a craft brew area, it's even better! Anyway, the foods there are out of this world! Chicken on a stick! Fried desserts, they even give away free fresh hard boiled eggs on a stick! Yum! Anyways, here's a look at what's coming out this year. Ultimate bacon explosion? Yes please!

Skylock

It's always good to see that people are thinking of new ideas, thinking outside the box. Take for example this lock for your bike. I saw the video on Facebook and decided to check it out. Kind of cool. It is solar powered so it will charge itself, 12 hours of sunlight will provide enough charge for 6 months, now that's cool! Also has USB charge capability.

Picture from Gizmodo

It connects to your Bluetooth or Wi-Fi from what I understand, making it able to be unlocked and monitored from your phone.  And by monitored, I mean it has a theft type security system on it. It will alert your phone if the accelerometer has been moved (not clear but have to be on the same wifi network?).  Immediately I thought of how my phone dies all the time, luckily you can still just enter a code on the lock as you normally would.

From a quick glance over on the website, I only see one size of lock and no way that will fit a fatbike. Looks as though it's weatherproof. And also the price isn't too friendly, but for those of us riding nice bikes, isn't your bike worth more than your ordinary $30 lock?

Last weeks MNR

The weather was nice. Elise's seat was loose. Again. Whoops.

Elise was resting. She's gonna kill me for posting this picture, let alone taking it!

All were running Knards

Tranquility was a jungle, weeds are waist high. Got out the next day and did some weed whacking, as did Greg.

fishing! Not catching anything!

Hmm...bike alarm. Interesting

It's like a car alarm with a shock sensor. Move it and it goes off. Attach to your bike I guess and if bike is moved, it chirps. If security code isn't entered in a certain time and lock still detects movement it goes off.

The 2015 Panama Enduro

Panama...Nebraska that is. It was windy but the temps were nice. Man this 15 mile roundtrip seems pretty easy...oh snap. We have to turn around and the crosswind proved to be more than just a crosswind. Yikes! Then the long climb. But we finished. That we did. Around the 13th mile I lost all my energy and watched as Brian and Dave N just pass me. Another mile more and I would have made it to the concrete section of the race. Oh well. Finished 6th out of who knows how many. Thats alright. Like I said...at least we finished. Beer, smiles and food at the end. Hooray!

Thanks to Elise for coming and taking alot of the pictures!

It was a good start to the race day. Pass a Jeep that was with a BDS suspension truck, get the Jeep wave from them. Then pass by my old house off of 148th Street in Waverly. The memories.

Let's do this. A little pre-race meeting

A loose cassette won't stop us!

On your marks...

Get set...

Wait for it...

Go!

When we first hit the gravel

Hey we know that guy!

I had to keep telling Brian to slow down and observe the speed limit. He just wouldn't listen!
Like going through the safari

Billygoats somewhere in the picture
And then the turn around

I'm not gonna get stuck in these...are you?

The endless miles of country roads!

Turn here!

These would have been more fun

As would have been this!

Paul clownin around

The finish line!

Winna Winna

Also a winna!

Follow me I say!

Drones...pretty cool for those people that have always wanted to fly RC copters yet afraid to crash a $300 toy in a matter of seconds. And we've all heard about Amazon using drones to deliver packages to certain cities and areas where available. Well what about a personal drone that will provide you with supplies, food, and tools while you bike? Yup, its here.

Obviously I'm assuming it'll only work with road biking...for now.

MNR!

The day was nice and I couldn't wait to get outside. But now I'm sore and achy all over and can't get warm. This happened to me when I rode last Monday in less than 30 degree weather, but with today being 60 degrees I figured that I would be fine!

Somehow she was smiling. I was not. Gravel and smiling don't go together!

Anyway I took the old school Schwinn out for a ride. Coaster brakes and single speed are killer in the streets of Waterford!

Pretty cool considering it was 60 degrees out

This past Saturday Elise and I decided to hit the good ol' Dutch Hall Road for some gravel fun. Except we went to the zoo earlier that morning. And she had a show that night. Saw the treads in the gravel from Paul, Linda, Brian and Doug. Made it for a round trip of over ten miles. What was actually worse was riding the mucky trail around Prairie View Lake. Sucked your energy and wheels into the softness. The hills seemed easier this year, but it might have been because we rode a little bit slower. I could actually catch my breath for once!
